How to create a great video e-me

The best thing about e-mes is that they say so much more about you than a written CV can ever do. And one big problem with written CVs is that they only tell an employer what you have done so far in your career and what you studied at university.

A Meet The Real Me e-me is your chance to tell us about the real you, to show your true personality, your passion and enthusiasm for a new job. So, the most important thing to do is make sure your e-me has some energy and that you look AND sound excited about a new opportunity!

Remember: everyone answers the same three questions, so employers really will judge you on what you say and the way you say it, and that’s why we're different and successful.

Step One
Prepare: think before you speak and keep it simple. You won't get a new job just because you spoke the longest. Try to avoid simply listing things that you've done or studied; instead elaborate on one job/activity/course, especially if it highlights your potential and drive.

Step Two
Don't expect to get it right the first time; use the re-record function as many times as you want, listen to yourself and try to think like an employer - if you watched the video would you pick up the phone to invite you to an interview? If the answer is yes, then it's good enough so save it.

Step Three
Make sure your profile is active then upload your written CV, set the locations you want to work in and what type of job you are looking for.
