The Times newspaper wants to meet you and find out if and where you have worked before, what kind of job you are looking for, and then “shadow” you for two weeks while you look for work. They may run a blog on the ir website where you can tell everyone your thoughts during the two weeks, and will then speak to you, or meet you, during the period to find out how the job hunt is going, what you thought of the advice, and ultimately if you have found anything.
Youth unemployment has reached a record high, with the unemployment rate among 16 to 24-year-olds now at 20.5 per cent.
To coincide with the next release from the Office for National Statistics next month, The Times wants to follow a group of young people with varying qualifications and in different parts of the UK to find out their thoughts on finding work and on what is holding them back—whether that is the economic slowdown, employers being wary of taking on young people, or issues around qualifications or experience.
In the meantime, recruitment specialists will help you with mock interviews, on improving your CV and what you can be doing to find work. Hopefully all of which will be helpful in the job hunt. We have lined up help from Chris Davies at Graduate Coach http://www.graduatecoach.co.uk, Brian Michael from Meet The Real Me http://www.meettherealme.co.uk, and a private recruitment company to give you advice.
They are looking for six people, aged 16-24, and with a variety of educational skills and training. If you are looking for work and are interested in taking part please express your interest by submitting your Video CV by close of business Thursday 24th March.
