Network Operations Centre (NOC) Analyst

Starting Salary: £20,000 -£25,000

Annual Leave: 20 shifts, including Bank Holidays

The NOC Analyst role will work from our office in Docklands, London although some international travel may be required.

We manage and consult with a wide range of globally diverse customers, including Search Engine providers, eGaming companies and Hosting providers. We are looking for a talented engineer to join our Network Operations team. In this position, you will be exposed to everything from bringing new networks online, compiling monitoring and performance reports for customers, to networking and routing troubleshooting and planning.

The NOC operates 24/7/365 and NOC Analysts work a 16-day rotating shift pattern: Days 1-4 - Daytime (8am - 8pm) Days 5-8 - Off Days 9-12 - Night time (8pm - 8am) Days 13-16 - Off The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • experience with any of the following vendors: Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Extreme, Force10, Arista;
  • the ability to be self-motivating and to work autonomously;
  • excellent written, oral and telephone communication skills, and the ability to write clear documentation;
  • keenness to develop new technical skills and an interest in the development of internet technology;
  • a working understanding of the OSI networking model, switching, and internet routing;
  • a desire to work closely with Internet Service Providers, and learn how the internet really works;
  • the ability to make decisions, to follow support procedures, accurately prioritise support tickets and escalation paths;
  • the ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional manner;
  • analysis skills to accurately interpret conversations into support tickets;
  • familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols.

This role is customer facing, and the holder must be able to discuss technical subjects with engineering teams within our customers' organisations. The following skills are desirable:

  • experience in writing scripts for UNIX, e.g. bash, perl;
  • maintaining Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Server, Exchange, IIS;
  • an interest in improving the processes and tools used on a daily basis;
  • experience in analysing trends/graphs to diagnose faults or anomalies;
  • an interest in internet scaling technology e.g. addressing (IPv6) / capacity management;
  • industry experience / relevant qualifications e.g. CCNA; BCNE etc.
